Why would Battlefield 2142 not be recognizing Windows Vista?

Battlefield 2142 was designed for 32bit Windows XP, and it will tell you that when you install it. However it does work on all versions of Vista. I'm using Vista 64bit Premium with 2142 and I don't even need to run it in compatability mode.
