Should i wait a couple of months before getting a playstation 3?

Allright so i have been wanting to get a PS3 but my friend kept telling me it had bugs and problems and that i shouldn't get it. he works for a gaming store and stuff. But now i got the x-box 360 and feel like a sell out b/c i liked ps3 and wanted to get it before i heard about the bugs. Now should i wait to see if they come out with a more redefined model of the ps3 b/c i feel like they might come out with some new slimmer model like they have b4 for previous PS models. + do you think the bugs and crap would be fixed? Just let me know your input i wouldnt be suprised if they did come out with a new model that it would be released in like 2 years or something. Any ps3 owners out there let me know what you think. or if you know if they are trying to come out with new models with a new chip or something like they did for the x-box with the falcon chip.
