Making a bet to stop drinking alcohol! Is this absolutely terrible?

I will give a brief overview. I believe I have a drinking problem b/c I can not control myself from ingesting it when it is around but, if I run out I am A ok with that. So I don't get anger go crazy of anything. I do say some crazy stuff, like entire stand-up scenes. Some a little racist and like me a white person saying black peoples stand-up. (Ex. Katt Williams routines so if you have ever seen his stand-up you no what it is.) My friend love when I drink b/c I am every ones entertainment. But I black-out so easily form drinking that remember nothing. So I made a very huge Prop bet (over 4 figures just to keep us honest so the money matters) with a friend that neither one of us could drink until New Years Eve next year so the end of 2009. So is this wrong to make the bet or motivation.
