Help! still stuck on meiosis!!?

Okay, in the first stage of meiosis, the chromosomes make copies of themselves. The copies remain stuck together when the logous pairs line up and separate, so you have half the number of chromosomes, but there is a copy of each stuck together. Then in the second stage the two copies are pulled apart, making 4 daughter cells with one haploid set of chromosomes in each.
