Women who like football?why?

I just have a quick question,why is it today more and more women like to watch football?When I was young you rarely would find a girl that likes mens sports today it is more common to see many women at sports bars and superbowl parties,not that there is anything wrong with it.It just seems kind of different it is hard for me to see my girlfriend at a mens social event rooting them on.
